We’re discussing positive thoughts and action today. Positivity fuels us with power and purpose. The more we fortify our personality with positive thoughts, the better we can cope. We feel strong, capable, and equipped to deal with whatever life throws at us.
But what happens when there is no bright side? The truth is that sometimes things go wrong and there’s no way around it. We’re annoyed, we’re inconvenienced, or something that happened caused a delay or a problem that now needs fixing.
Positive thinking plays a key role here even in the face of a calamity. If you learn to navigate the difficult stuff with a can-do attitude, you’ll be helping yourself attract more good into your life.
Sometimes recognizing problems is the first step to solving them. But people often tend to get stuck at that first step. So let’s design a plan of action that uses positive thinking to create solutions and turn a bad circumstance around.

Step 1: Identify the problem that needs fixing.
Remember, it’s not negative thinking to notice when something can be improved or to point out that something is broken and needs fixing. The negativity has more to do with attitude and emotion, including using words to make either ourselves or others feel guilty and small.
Step 2: Isolate the good that will come once you fix the problem or make the improvement that’s needed.
This is a way to think positively about the problem so you can solve it faster and with the least amount of complications. Beating yourself up or blaming others wastes time. Skip ahead to the good part – finding a solution!
Step 3: Determine the best approach to take.
Write it down in steps. This may seem tedious at first. But when you establish a formula for what needs to be done, you can use this formula again and again to solve similar problems.
Step 4: Follow the steps you’ve outlined.
Obtain any supplies or helpers who may be required to solve your issue that needs fixing. Complete the process.
Step 5: Reward yourself.
This was a negative situation, but some good things came of it. Now you can celebrate your success! Getting things accomplished feels good!
When it’s all over, how do you spin an overall “negative” situation into a positive?
One, you learned something new. Two, something was broken or problematic in some way but you fixed the issue. Three, you forged new connections with helpful people in your effort to solve the problem.
Four, you learned something that you didn’t know before. Five, you mastered a skill. And six, you now have a system for solving the same type of challenge again in the future… or you know how to avoid the problem in the first place. That’s a pretty good set of positives to take away from a seemingly negative experience!
Try this: the next time someone says something you don’t like, or you’re in a situation that isn’t exactly favorable, seek the light. Even if that’s just knowing that you’ll laugh about it later.
You’ll be amazed at how fast things in your life will change for the better.
